Classification of Research Centers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – A Case Study

The Coordinating Council for Social Research Centers organized a workshop titled “Classification of Research Centers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” on Sunday, July 13, 2025. The workshop was led by Professor Dr. Badr Al-Hahjohj, Executive Director of the King Salman Center for Disability Research, and attended by a distinguished group of specialists and representatives from institutions concerned with scientific and social research in the Kingdom. This workshop aligns with one of the Council’s objectives, as stated in paragraph (10) of Article (2) of its founding charter — to establish clear classification standards for research centers that enable performance evaluation based on a set of indicators, including activity volume, budget, governance reference, leadership representation, and quality of research outputs. The workshop aims to enhance the efficiency of research work, promote transparency and governance, unify institutional evaluation standards, and foster a knowledge-based environment that contributes to addressing national and social issues. This event is part of a series of scientific meetings organized by the Council to strengthen integration among research and social institutions across the Kingdom.
