Seminar on Future Challenges Facing Family Counseling in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

 In Dhu al-Hijjah 1444 AH, corresponding to 12 July 2023, and in recognition of the importance of the family in society, the National Center for Social Studies and Research, in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, organized a scientific seminar entitled "Future Challenges Facing Family Counseling in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia." The seminar was held under the patronage of Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Wuhaibi, Deputy Minister for Rehabilitation and Social Guidance, and Prof. Dr. Sami bin Abdulaziz Al-Damgh, Director General of the Center. It discussed future challenges facing family counseling, strategic directions, the current state of family counseling in the Kingdom, and proposals for advancing the role of family counseling and developing specialists in the field. The seminar emphasized the importance of spreading knowledge and awareness about family counseling, increasing family awareness, discussing legislative and policy challenges faced by government entities working in family counseling, and reviewing leading international experiences and practices so that practitioners can benefit from them and improve professional efficiency. The Center also announced a number of accompanying workshops addressing family-counseling skills, social concepts, domestic violence and its types, causes, outcomes and social impacts, as well as the development of appropriate standards and regulations and the enhancement of practitioner capabilities.
