King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology Organizes Workshop on Sustainability in Social Development

King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs through the National Center for Social Studies and Research, is organizing a workshop in Riyadh entitled "Sustainability in Social Development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia" under the cooperation agreement between the Ministry and KACST. The workshop targets experts in social development, relevant stakeholders, decision-makers and beneficiaries from government, charitable and private entities, including Saudi universities, charitable associations, the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Housing, the Ministry of Health, the King Salman Center for Disability Research and others. A group of local and international experts will present leading international practices for advancing social sustainability and possible measures to address current social challenges in the Kingdom. The workshop aims to coordinate efforts to achieve sustainability in social development by identifying existing gaps, how to address them, and mechanisms for solving them. It will discuss several social challenges, including poverty, unemployment, disability, older persons, housing and orphans. The workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, 4/11/1436 AH, at KACST headquarters in Riyadh and will address seven key topics, including the positive effects of applying sustainability approaches in social development, barriers to social-development sustainability in the Kingdom, and methods for facilitating integrated solutions.
